Fatigue !!!!

Just wondering how others "pull up" after mastectomy---I felt tired first week after surgery-- however by the 2nd & 3rd week I became absolutely exhausted---do others feel like this?? Do you think it's part emotional?? I  have been a bit concerned as I felt i was feeling even  more tired---Is this "normal" --and how long does it last ??I had 6 chemo sessions before surgery.Would be so grateful for any feedback.

  • Hi Suzie

I too have had a mastectomy (11th January) but I had that first and am now into round 3 of chemo. It does take several weeks to get over the surgery. I think I took about a month to start to come good. As others have said, it's pretty major surgery for your body to go through and get over. Hang in there, it will get easier!

    Take care, Natalie, Cairns.

  • Hi Suzie

Think you are felling quite normal. I had a mastectomy nearly 2 years ago now and had my chemo and radiation after. If I had had chemo before the surgery don't think I would have been out of bed for ages! Your body has been through a huge onslaught and I think you are being a bit hard on your self. Listen to your body and it will tell you when you need to rest. I used to have a sleep every afternoon after my mastectomy and found that a great help.

Good luck with the rest of your recovery
