Facial hair

Hi - this is a bit of a freaky problem. I finished chemo about 3 months ago - hair growing back in nice soft grey felt. But I have noticed that I am getting quite a lot if soft fuzz on the sides of my face and cheeks. Quite noticeable and am starting to feel a bit sensitive. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and does it disappear? I thought of trying to remove it but was worried it might come back even thicker. Hard enough dealing with all the other body image issues without becoming the incredible hairy faced woman as well! I'd really welcome any feedback if anyone else has had this experience.     Hi all, I had a close look at my face, this time with my glasses on. Big mistake. I too have a fuzzy face, and wouldn't have noticed it if I left my glasses off. I have never had any facial hair, but now I do. Especially on my cheek near my ears. I hope it goes away along with my curls. I have 5 months worth of growth and it is like an old lady perm. The hairdresser straightened it yesterday, you would never know. I think I'm fighting a losing battle with the curls. Maybe I should just embrace them, and be bloody grateful to actually have hair.     Thanks for your feedback ladies - was talking to someone the other day who had same problem, and found, like Moira that it did eventually disappear. So I guess it's just another one of those things we have to deal with as part of our treatment! Still in the scheme of things a bit of facial fuzz is not a big deal - thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences. It makes the journey a little easier to bear knowing that this site is out there with so much collected wisdom and support available. Marian

    I can usually "pick" a bc woman in the room.  It is to do with all the hormone treatment ie for those estrogen receptive on Aromotose Inhibitors like Tamoxifen, Arimidex or others who go through early menopause due to the chemo treatment.  I have just embraced it all - no point in worrying about it.  PS I was given a tip about the "first crop of hair after chemo" (white fluffy stuf)  GET RID OF IT.  I did and now have a very thick head of CURLS that are going round and round and round.  It is now 6 months since I finished chemo and I am still waiting for a "fringe".     You will be glad to heare.... i had the same thing, and was beginning to panic, imagining myself being a nice wee fuzzy wuzzy faced person, but i let it go, and it disappeared, it is a bit of a worry at the time, but don't worry, another side effect of treatment i think.... so don't shave, it might come in thicker, give it time X

    Hi Marian,

    I'm really sorry to hear about your problem with the facial hair. I don't have any words of wisdom - or any thing else to offer you as I still don't have any hair on my head and have lost half my eyebrows.

    I do hope someone else has some helpful information for you. It sounds really weird. I had some hair under my chin before being diagnosed, thankfully that has gone - or has it??
