Eyebrows why now?

Hi,

Can anyone please tell me why my eyebrows are falling out now? 2 months after my last chemo, they had thined out during chemo but I thought they would be okay and start to grow back like my hair.

My hair is growing well but my eyebrows are getting worse, my left side seems to be worse this is the side I had my breast removed, I am just finishing up radiation 2 days to go yahhh also I think my lashes might be thinning out too... again on my left side mainly.

Is this normal????

Will they grow back?? I am on Tamoxifen for 5 years.

I am thinking of getting my eyebrows tattooed on has anyone else had this done?

  • Hi Mon, i did do the look good feel better program thanks, and i did get a  eyebrow shader kit. I just was suprised to be losing my eyebrows 2 months after chemo finished  :(

  • Hi Tonya thanks i will try to be patient, i thought i made it through without losing my eyebrows, just a bit disapointed. I just want to look normal!!

  • Thanks Chris , i will try to use a bit of powder and pencil, have you heard of the fake ones that you stick on?

Headcovers from the states sell them but i dont know if they are any good.

  • Thanks Cheryl i will have to learn to draw them on :)

  • Hi Pip,

Have you done the Look Good Feel Better program?  The best tip I got out of it (when my eyebrow were thinning and chemo hadn't finished) was to pencil in my eyebrows, but then to use a taupe eyeshadow to blend in and thicken what's there.

If you haven't done the program, sign up for it.  You'll get great advice and some amazing gifts too.

  • Hang in there pip.My eyelashes and eyebrows fell out after chemo, started coming back and then fell out again. It took many months for them to grow back and even now,(2yrs on) my eyelashes are abit on the sparse side - eyebrows are ok.

  • Hi Pip, I also lost all my eyebrows, but not eyelashes, several months after finishing chemo. They are still very sparse, but my hair has come back well. I finished chemo 16 months ago. I agree with Cheryl about the eyebrow tattoo. I have seen 2 people that have had them done, and it looks rather like someone has used a black Texta on the eyebrows. I have become very good at putting my eyebrows on with an eyebrow powder. It use to take me longer to do that, than to apply my full make up, but I have become much quicker now, and it takes less than a minute. It is also easier now, as I have quite a few eyebrows there for guide lines. Someone said that they thought the eyebrows and lashes came out last, because they were on a different growth cycle to the hair. I really don't know what the reason is, but they will grow back. Love Chris xx

  • Same happened to me and the eyelashes went as well.

I would advise againt the tattoos as the one I have seen just look ridiculous quite franklyl

It is so cruel to get through everything and then boom, here we go again, hell I am still losing nails so who knows how long this stuff can take but onward we go, we are still alive and eyebrow pencils and fake eyelashes are a good excuse to get more make up.

    cheers
