Elevated liver in bloods

Stress and in tears. Just got a call to redo my bloods as my liver reading ate very high. What if its on my liver now??  Lump removed 30th May, type 2a, just finished 4 rounds of chemo. Could this be back so soon.

  • I hope you are all right.  Not sure I can deal with bad news.
  • The chemo can cause it. Sudden weight loss can cause it. Deep breathe. I know how hard that is though but it doesn't mean the worse.
  • Shorelle your body has been through heaps already and our bloods will show up strange readings hence your repeat performance - here's hoping it is only because of the chemo and all its effects!  Try and relax the best you can or get busy doing something that takes your mind off it!  Take care
  • Hi Shorelle
Please do not panic just yet as there are many reasons for this.  Wait for the next lot of more exact tests and have a discussion with your medical team.
Please try to rest and relax for the moment.  You are in our thoughts as we've all been there - and we are still here !
    Hugs  Summer  :-)
  • Not yet. They just did more bloods today. If its still up I suppose ultrasound.
  • Try not to panic- one of my liver enzymes was up due to Tamoxifen and a fatty liver. It could be from any number of gastric issues or nothing at all. Have you had a liver ultrasound?
  • I so hope you are right. Im beside myself with the worse outcone.
  • Shorelle, I'm 20 months post chemo, and my liver enzyme was elevated the last bloods I had, my GP was not concerned at all, and said most medications affect it. So talk with your team to alleviate your concerns asap. Hugs Melinda xo
  • I think chemo can sometimes effect the liver, so please don't stress just yet.
  • It depends what readings are high in the liver test.
One of my liver enzymes was very high after the first dose of chemo, I had two repeat blood tests, still a bit high but okay to continue with chemo, the following tests were okay for the remaining chemo. Though the Onc said I had low grade hepatitis on Docetaxol.

I have had elevated tests even prior to breast cancer, possible Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease.

Dont panic, it can be a reaction to the drugs.
