Drains are out

Hooray. Home nurse removed my second drain today so I don't have to be so careful when I am trying to sleep. I started swelling up yesterday, day eleven after mastectomy, and had extreme pain in the surgery area on day ten but the BC nurse said that is normal. Path report says no cancer was left in breast tissue and only one tiny spot in lymph nodes. All removed now. The neo adjuvant treatment worked well (chemo prior to surgery). I will be seeing radio on Tues to discuss if I require radiation and options. I have another eight months on Herceptin. I am tiring out very quickly but that is expected. I hope one day my emotions will return to normal but for now I am concentrating on getting my physical health back under control.

  • What a relief  @Blossum1961,  I had built myself into a panic about having drain removed but in the end never felt a thing.
I am now 7 weeks post mastectomy and starting to feel good physically. This week is the first time I am able to sleep on my mastectomy side. Woohoo.  Small things.      Keep up with your exercises and you'll get there. I was lucky I escaped the radiation side of things hopefully you will as well.   :)
