Down weekend

I am not having a good weekend this eve of my last chemo session tomorrow.

It all started yesterday after I had my breakfast and some extra sweet chewing gum. I don't know if that was the problem, the cake I had for morning tea, or what it was. Somewhere along the line, I started having nausea attacks during the day which continued into the night.

Add to that I looked down at my sore feet and saw they were both swollen. Of course I paniced and decided not to take my blood pressure pill that night. I had my feet elevated all night and a very cold compress on them to get the swelling down. It seemed to have done the trick as they look nearly normal again. I still have the nausea attacks today. I started on my dexomethosone and hope that will help.

am looking forward to having my last chemo and then 4 weeks later getting my portacath taken out of me too! It is starting to feel as though it moves all the way down to my left breast and is very uncomfortable. The sooner it comes out the better!

Oh well, waiting for tomorrow to come...hurry up sun and set, then the moon can come and shine, then the sun again in the morning...

  • Thanks Chris for your support too. I have finished the chemo now and am into week two of chemo free!

Went out for lunch yesterday - though must have been having an off day as it did not stay where it ought to have! Felt like death warmed up last night so stayed home today to be sure - and rest well.

Yes, Christmas will be good this year knowing there is no more treatments. I have already started on the Tamoxifen and so far so good. I think even the hot flushes have staived off a little.

Now I just have to work out how to keep the swelling feet and legs in order and I will be fine again.

    Cheerio all

    :)

  • Thanks Tonya and Monica for your wonderful comments.

I did some serious massaging on my feet, elevated them and in the morning - voila! they are nearly back to normal. This made me feel happier.

Yes, I have had the last chemo today. Couldn't stay in the nice comfy chair though as there was a plumbing accident in the new ward and we all got sent to different parts of the hospital to get our chemo - no one missed out on their chemo today so that was a good thing and the nurses and sisters all looked after us wonderfully well.

I got out of the hospital - blood test included by 2.00pm! I think that was pretty good going with all that happened. I was and am still feeling a little bit wonky. I reckon after a nice warm bath with some epsom salts and some lovely bath oils, I will be feeling much better.

My partner wants to take me to lunch again on Friday this week as we are not working this Friday so that will be really lovely to look forward to - a nice sea food restaurant. This will be a new one so will see how it goes.

Yes Tonya, four weeks from now I will be starting the hormone therapy and getting rid of my portacath and looking forward to no more needles. No more chemo, no more hospital!

Just getting myself better and looking for a good herbalist, which I have lined up to give me some iridology and some herbs. She does house calls so that is great too.

    Well, cheerio for now

    Bright Blessings
