Docetaxol watery eyes. Driving me nuts!

I had to keep dark sunnies on, even inside as bright fluros set it all too. Don't rub your eyes and ask your doctor for some drops as you will get conjunctivitis very easily.

Hi ladies, so good to read these comments, makes me feel normal, SNIFF is my middle name and I always have a mans hanky tucked inside both sleeves of whatever I am wearing, I wear my sunglasses all the time as well, even considered getting a pair of goggles, the only time it abates is when I am laying down! I am on Xeloda and these are side effects of this drug, I went to my optometrist to get my eyes checked but there was nothing he could do apart from telling me to wear sunglasses all the time, there is no REAL cure, just have to wait it out and when the Xeloda stops working so will the side effects, Geez what we have to put up, as I sit here the tears are slowing rolling down my face , better go, I feel another sniff coming on

Oh boy does that bring back memories.  And the worst thing, when I was just bald but looked okay lots of lovely people would talk to me encouragingly - when I looked like I was crying continuously - people avoided me like the plague??  The eyedrops quickly stopped working, didn't stay in long enough!!   I carried a roll of toilet paper (unbleached, soft) around in my bag.  And dabbed and gently blew and tossed.    Washed my face often (water) and gently dabbed dry - reduced the swollen red look a bit - the salty tears was drying them more.  Just before bed steamed my face like for a blocked nose and as long as I got to sleep quickly it was great.  Kept a couple of clothes near the bed (those cheap microfiber ones) to put on the pillow when it got damp.  Get another pillow to rotate to give them time to dry, and of course wash case and pillow often.   And it did go away for me (took a few weeks) and was quickly forgotten.  Wish you the best with the remainder of your treatment.

Yes @primek the saline spray you suggested a while ago really helped with the bloody nose problem, still a little there but nothing like it was before using it.
I will try the safety glasses, yesterday out with the horse, it was windy and my eyes and nose ran like a tap, trying to wrap a hoof in cotton wool and Elastoplast on a stroppy horse when you are half blind and weak from chemo is not fun. I was seriously cranky by the time I finished. The safety glasses might help with stopping the wind affecting them.

my Oncologist actually said it was an issue with Docetaxol, and it was on the side effects booklet he gave me. Just nothing in it to say what to do to help!

Sigh! I guess I just have to wait it out.

I didn't have the watery eyes but I did have irritated eyes and eyelids.  I didn't lose all of my eyelashes on AC chemo but the falling out and growing back in were very itchy.  I used an eye mist so I didn't have to keep tipping my head back for eye drops.  I still have problems with my eye and irritation and am constantly getting conjunctivitis, really red and irritated.  Amazingly my sinuses have improved since chemo. Usually every year without fail come Autumn and Winter I have a sinus infection.  Not this year so far.  There are some silver linings to chemo :)

@Afraser ...and saline spray for the nose. Lol

Drippy nose is annoying but like @primek I had a bloody nose! Which was alarming for others and the perpetual crusty feeling was a pain. I look back on it now and wonder how I managed! Lots of tissues!! 

yes, I have the same, yet some of the chemo nurses say they never heard of this! refreshing to know it is not just me! constant drippy nose is the worst!

I used the refresh tears plus. And had tiny packs of tissues everywhere. I constantly had blood noses also. I was on taxol. I was so happy when this ended. When I did aquafit or walked in a pool I wore safety glasses...funny yes...but  1 splash burned like hell and I developed Conjunctivitis. The glasses were perfect (just the wrap around clear sunglass look) air con , fans, all made it much worse. So if you can glasses actually help it a bit. Bright lights hurt too so I often wore a peaked cap even inside.

I had Taxol not Taxotere but my oncologist said that it was very hard on soft tissue, so eyes, nose, etc. But it did all clear up when the treatment stopped.
