Docetaxol left with a big finale!

Hi Ladies,

I hope you are all travelling the best you can.

Just arrived home from hospital again! 4 night stay this time. Finished chemo on 4/3 and the side effects hit me harder this time, was sort of coping until last Thursday when my temp rose to 38.1 and off to hospital in an ambulance. Not impressed with paramedic who decided to lecture me about my not taking panadol before calling them. How I needed to take of myself before I called the Ambulance.  I let him go on and on, (he didn't seem to notice me crying). I finally asked him if he had had a bad day, he responded by saying he had had no lunch break.

I thought I'd tell him about my last 9 weeks of chemo and how I'd not tasted food, how sick I'd been etc. He asked why I was crying and I told him I was bloody ill and my partner was so ill he couldn't drive me to the hospital. He backed off, when we got to the hospital I told him my cell count would be low, he then proceeded to line me up with all the sick people in the corridor.

When the Doctor came, my little ambulance man copped a hiding about leaving me where he did. Karma!

Anyway, that's my little rant out of the way :) I am on the road to recovery now and feeling a lot brighter. Felt like a broken woman on the way to hospital, but they have patched me up and I believe I can finally see that light getting brighter at the end of the tunnel.

Radium starts at the end of March, and my kind sister has treated me and my partner to a short stay at Caloundra just before radium starts. I'm sure that will lift out spirits. Goodness knows we need it.

Best wishes to all, take care,

Hazel xx

  • Write or phone your ambulance service - I am a volunteer ambo and this is NOT good enough. You have to tell them when something like this happens, they need to know that some officers are behaving badly.

    I'm glad you've finished, YAYYY

  • Not a good experience for you and it is behind you now. Hoping things go a lot more positively for you from now on. Xx
  • What an awful, thing to have happen to you. You'd think they would have more empathy. On a brighter note I'm glad you are now on the road to recovery and chemo will soon be a distant memory. Enjoy your break in Caloundra. A beautiful spot to have a well earned rest. XO
