Hello,
I have now finished my FEC's and on Tuesday start my last three chemo's with the different drug taxotare. I am anxious about this..better the devil you know maybe.
Can anyone who has been there before me give me any advice on how to manage this one? anything I need to do in advance? think i saw something about painting nails black?

Sorry Julia,but I thought it was terrible as well.It's harder on your white cells so be extra vigilant with mouth care and your temp.By day 4 I felt like road kill from a mack truck! My motto is prepare for the worst but hope for the best.You may have an easier time of it than me and Maria,others have.Good luck.

Hi Julia,
I finished my last cycle four weeks ago. I too had FEC and then taxotere. I bought revitanail (clear strengthening nail polish and used that) either black or brown nail polish - the point is to have a good sun barrier and to keep the nails strong while you are on taxotere. I was also offered very cold mittens to put my hands into whilst I was having my IV as it will help with not only nails but with loss of feeling at the tips of your fingers later. The nurses will explain it all to you.
I absolutely hated the taxotere was the worst experience of my life - thru the pain and lethargy. Bare in mind this is my experience and everyone is different. Ask many questions and if you are not sure ask again.
