@TonyaM My mum is a tough cookie indeed. A Londoner who survived The Blitz. Stoic English stock.
My breast surgeon said "One is bad luck but not unusual given that one in eight women get it. Two is really bad luck and maybe a coincidence. However three women in one family is no coincidence at all". He asked if I had amy remaining sisters. I do, and he said she was high risk and should get a mammogram immediately (she did, clear for now). The next generation down, my daughter and niece, are considered moderate risk and should commence surveillance at 30. The latter was as instructed by the Peter MacCallum Familial Cancer Centre where my sister who died had her genetic testing.
