DIEP Surgery Done

Well it is day 10 post surgery and I am doing very well but boy what a marathon it has been. There were no ‘major’ hiccups, thank goodness, even with fairly smooth sailing this operation...

I spoke to DP again today and was impressed with his ability to have the time to chat with me on the phone. It looks like now I may do the other mastectomy and insertion of tissue expander some time soon, then do the DIEP at the end of the year. I am juggling a post treatment holiday with my husband to Vanuatu in July and the need to complete either Semester 1 or Semester 2 of uni sometime this year. DP does not have time to do DIEP before we go to vanuatu, but at least if i get the mastectomy done soon, I'll be balanced for the year. Never knew it'd be so difficult to work out the logistics. DP is now up to booking July surgeries and if I get it done then, I won't be recovered enough to start Semester 2. Then I'd have to do uni sem 1 and I'd have another 6 months of having this prosthesis!
Sue, I hope you will feel ok about your surgery. Think how fabulous you'll look!
