Hi Jane
Yes I had both done with tummy tissue. Diep flap uses your tummy fat and only a small amount of muscle - the muscle is used for the blood supply. For me there was enough fat there to make 2 boobs. Although I am not greatly overweight I am one of those body shapes that always carries any extra weight around the middle. For once I was greatful for the spare tyre/muffin top LOL. Your surgeon will let you know if you have enough tummy fat or not - some women don't.
Making the decision about what type of reconstruction was a massive one for me. I did do a lot of research and my surgeon spent a lot of time with my husband and I going through all my options. He was very clear about the pros and cons for each and explained everything in great detail. I'm not sure if you have a plastic surgeon yet but that is a good place to start. Once you know what your options are your research can be more specific to you.
Like Amy says - keep asking questions on this site - everyone has their unique experiences to share.
Congrats on your last chemo. I felt weird after my last one too.
Take Care
