Well it is day 10 post surgery and I am doing very well but boy what a marathon it has been. There were no ‘major’ hiccups, thank goodness, even with fairly smooth sailing this operation...

Sorry to butt in. I had Lattismus dorsi flap + implant early this year (5 hours), then nipple in Aug. Now waiting for tattoo. Just want to set your expectation about "natural". The final result is amazing on my non-mastectomy side ... natural and beautiful. The mastectomy side is as good as it gets wrt to looking-into the mirror and fabulous under a bra. The tissue over the implant on the mastectomy side is borrowed from my back muscle. It has been soften over time, still feel like a stick on Grapefruit - however EMOTIONALLY it feel NATURAL to me and my kids + my beloved husband. Anything is better then my should high tissue expander :)
Reconstruction is a costly exercise, and lots of after care from your plastic surgen. Your caring and dear platic surgen will help you through the process - as everyone is different.
There are 3 main options for breast reconstruction Implant
- Implant
- Lattismus dorsi flap plus implant
- “TRAM” (Trans Rectus Abdominus Muscle) Flap
