Did anyone else get a sore back after surgery?

Hi Again.

Has anyone else had a sore/tender back (ribs area) after their sentinal node biopsy?

It has been tender to touch the area since the 1st surgery, which runs down the side about 10cm.  There is no bruise there but I have noticed it getting worse over the past week. 

Could this just be a sign that I am overdoing things a little too much, as I have been feeling nearly normal and have been doing a some serious spring cleaning before all the nodes are taken out in a week and can't do any of it.  :o)

    Thanks for the info Monica.   I do have a "cord" feeling, 1 in the armpit and 1 under the breast too.  I will have to get my wonderful Hubby onto rubbing some Vit E onto my back hahahaha.   A girlfriend of mine, suggested a lymph drainage massage so I will look into that for next week.  I'll be nice and relaxed for Thursdays' surgery.  :o)

    It is so hard to slow down though, especially when I am feeling good and know what is ahead of me, lots of lying around and rest!  But, it has to be done I suppose.

    Hi , Rach I did experience the same after my sentinel biopsy  on 7/7/11 it felt like cords running down from under the breast to the hip  . My surgeon told me it will go away after 3 weeks and it is caused by distruption to the lymph fluid, sometimes it is called cording if you do a google search you'll find some info regarding cording in the arm post lymph nodes removal but it happens after sentinell node biopsy as well. What helped me was massaging the area with vit e cream after shower and just massaging the area in the shower under the warm water ,first time I did it it felt as if something popped and it felt better after that. Hope this helps but if concern just see your surgeon. Try and slow down and do not strain the side where you had your sentinel node biopsy as it could lead to lymphodema as I was told by my breast care nurse.  Good luck and speedy recovery , Monica
