Desperate for suggestions

I have been on Arimidex ( Anastrozole) since 4 and half years, recently having un tolerable side effects.I have heard that switching to it's generic brand it may give less side effects.
It is a week I have started taking generic brand but still having un tolerable side effects.
Dear ladies, any ideas how long does it take to feel the difference by switching the medication?
  • @iserbrown You sound right! I am really blessed to be on this forum the lovely ladies like you give me great suggestions!
    Stay blessed xx
  • Thanks so much @ arpie for the great suggestion & wishes.
you take care as well xx
  • @Zan

You may find changing to a different AI may help!  A change maybe what your body is looking for.  Side effects vary!
    Take care
  • I've been on 3 AIs so far, @Zan - starting wth Letrozole then Exemestane & then Arimidex.  I've recently changed to a generic brand as Arimidex now has a $5 charge on top of the PBS .... so trying Anastrozole.  I think my side effects have lessened - but as @June1952 says - give it at least 6-8 weeks to see if 'settles down'.  My only other choice after this is Tamoxifen!

take care & I hope that your side effects lessen xx

  • @ June1952 Yes definitely your suggestion gives me much hope. A huge thanks & hugs.

Yes I had told my oncologist regarding Arimidex side effects and she suggested me that I can change to another aromatase inhibitors i.e. Femara but I think probably all the aromatase  inhibitors have similar side effects so their is no point to change it.
  • When starting any new medication (BC or a variety of others) 'they' say it takes 6 weeks to fully get into your system.
Hope that gives you some hope that things will change.
Have you met with your oncologist to discuss this and explain your particular side effects ?
