Dear Maria
Wow, I can't believe chemo is nearly over for you! That's terrific.
I never thought twice about having the mastectomy my surgeon recommended, so I've never been in the position of having to choose between two options. Tough decision for you!
As soon as the surgeon told me of the second lump, I wanted the whole bugger off. No question. I think it would have been very difficult going through the next few years, and the rest of my life, with a potential time bomb in my chest. I couldn't wait for my chemo to be finished so I could have it taken off.
I think that, aside from the medical considerations, peace of mind was the most significant reason for me to feel so comfortable with having a mastectomy.
Good luck with your decision
Helen.
