Decisions Decisions
Good afternoon ladies,
What a week, after my failed surgeries (lateral margins not clear), I have had an MRI to assist me to decide between either going ahead with a second re-excision ( third surgery) or straight to mastectomy.
Well, MRI....what an experience that was....I am one who can't let my hand or foot dangle off the bed in case some monster grabs it, let alone dangling my boobs into holes in a table, can't see where they are going or whats happening.....very weird is an understatement, especially getting rearranged from under the table by the staff! Gees we ladies go through some unpleasant stuff. And then the films after this, oh god, don't show your kids or husband. Talk about tennis ball in a stocking.....if you know what I mean.
Anyway, waited in agony over the weekend..............
So we have the results, and what was discovered was multiple new lesions.
Now this has sealed the deal, we go to chemo next week and bilateral mastectomy after chemo.
I am very happy to have finally made a decision which I think is the best for my family.
I have also opted for a port, this is due to 15 months of IV action (same as many of you), and totally look forward to having an "Iron Man" moment.....why would anyone NOT want a foreign body inserted into your chest.....!! (oops sarcasm sneaking in).
In preparation for chemo I have been reading the really really long blog about people's experiences, full of great advice, thanks.
Take care everyone
Louie
