Hi Amanda
A hard decision for you. I had radiation 25 sessions it's a lot easier then chemo just the daily traveling for a very short zap is draining. I had radiation after a mastectomy 13 lymph nodes (one sentinel node positive) and a 4.9cm tumour grade 3 DCIS this was decided by the multidisciplinary team breast surgeon, oncologist and radiotherapist who get together every fortnight to discuss all the new patients so my fate was sort of decided for me! I finished the radiation in Feb and feel fine now getting back to near normal (will never really be normal again!). I am waiting for an appointment for reconstruction and am sceptical about being able to go down the expander route (my preferred choice of recon) as I understand it is more difficult due to adhesions and tissue damage form the radiation. Will wait and see what they say .
I can empathise with the taxol feelings especially the runny nose so hard to control when you have no nose hairs! Good luck with the next round.
Hope you are able to make your own decision about the radiation, it's a hard one.
