Decision Made

Well today was the day. Decision made will do the chemo. Only 4. And the count down already begun with first blood test out of the way. And I start on Friday and last one on 10/7/2014. So can celebrate with the girls in Melbourne. All I can say is look out Mlebourne. Friends and family already booked in for roaster. Have the best friends. Even did a recon of ward so have some idea. So three more sleeps and will be 1/4 of the way through. Booked in for a haircut tomorrow to get in early and have some control over my body. Even ventured into work which has been worrying me. But was a good start. So onwards and upwards. First nail the damn bitch then ......... Who knows what adventures lay next.

  • Hi Wndsrfn

Completely get the nerves - I just hope you remind yourself though of all that you have faced and come through so far, of the gammit of emotions you have managed so well in the last few weeks, of the strong and powerful way in which you have chosen to approach this journey, and of the inspiation you give to others by being so honest about this challenge. Acknowledge that these skills and traits in you will continue to serve you well tomorrow.

I really like the saying of Albert Schweitzern about friends: In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit. I think it sounds like your friends fit this bill and will be there ensuring your inner fire stays alight.

Not sure if you have had a chance to read a blog by JanetH about helpful products for chemo side effects -I found it really helpful.

As for me, just when I think yeah this wound has finaly healed it isn't - I seem to be taking forever to heal this time. Very frustrating indeed. My week at work was also a bit of a roller coaster and I am glad I am having tomorrow off. I am hoping to get some time in the sun, fresh air and my garden.

    Take care, MLE59

  • Hi MLE59 good to see that you and your husband are getting number 4 hair cuts.  I found that I had some dignity with losing my hair and it wasn't as messy either.  Good luck with your treatment.  I had my last chemo yesterday, only required 4 sessions on a 3 week cycle.  It goes very quickly and although it isn't pleasant your oncologist will make is as good as he can which I found very helpful.  Hope your wound heals soon.  Keep your chin up. JanetH.
