Day 8, Round 1, Chemotherapy

Ok, I'm starting to bore myself, let alone anyone out there who may be reading this.

There are no side effects to report on, because. well, there aren't any. There's not a hint of fatigue. The cold I was so sure I would wake up with just didn't happen today.

I feel as close to being myself as I have since chemo started. Had a magic day mixing work and swims and time with friends and my husband; my beautiful, beautiful husband whose whole face lights up when he sees me, at the end of his work day, and one look tells him I am doing fine.

So, again, just going with it.

If someone had told me when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in November last year, or when I was working to regain use of my arm post mastectomy, or setting out to embark on a course of chemotherapy last Friday, that I would enjoy a day like today this summer, lor this year, let alone so very many of them, I would not have believed it possible.

And perhaps therein lies my lesson: to never let the good days pass without acknowledging what a joy they've been, and to store up all the memories of the many good times to cushion me against the blows that will inevitably happen down the track; because that's life, and there will always be a down to the ups.

For now, just happy. And so grateful.

x
