Day 8 and I'm home..

Today is day 8 post surgery, and I'm home. So much has happened, lots of pain, many emotions, and now my focus is on resting and healing. My new boobs look amazing, my tummy is still very tight, but the pain is under control. The surgery took 10 hours, and the doctors were very happy with the results right from the word go. I spent 4 days in the high dependency unit, with days 1-3 being the hardest. Pain was usually kept under control but moving was hard at first. Being rolled for the first time was an experience, and sitting for the first time was terrifying. But the nursing staff were awesome and looked after me as much as time allowed!! The one thing I wasn't expecting was being covered in the bear hugger for the first 3 days. Oh wow was I hot under that. Throw in hot flushes and I had my own personal sauna going on.. Anyway, I'm feeling good. So much nicer to be at home than in hospital. Will be happy to sleep through the night without lights, noise, and obs being done at midnight. Xxx

  • Yeah I can get a sim on a prepaid data plan if I want but don't know whether to or not. Like you said Louie, I may not need it at all. But I do like to check what are pinks sisters are up to. Janey xxx
  • I don't really understand technology, but luckily my hubby does. My iPad was set to 3G and I had the Internet fine. I'm not sure how to do that or why it works. It wasn't until my last few days that I wanted it anyway. L:)
  • I had no wifi either, which meant no iPad.. I didn't have my phone for the few days either. First days are so fuzzy though it wasn't a problem, but once your head clears from the pain killer fog, it was nice to have access to Facebook again!
  • I am going Private but at St Vs here in Melbourne they told me that there are no single rooms just shared. The single rooms are reserved for really sick patients or for isolation. Oh well, I hope I get a two bedder not a four. There's no wifi either, yikes! How will I cope without Internet I wonder. It's been my constant companion these many months now. Well I guess I'll be so sleepy I won't think of it.
  • Hi Janey I ended up staying for 8 days. Maybe a little early but once all the drains came out I just really wanted to go home. I had 4 drains, with 1 coming out day 4, 2 on day 6 & last one yesterday. Are you going private or public? If I was private I probably would have stayed longer too. Sharing a room with 3 other "sick" bodies isn't much fun..
  • Glad your surgery went well. Got my fingers crossed for a fast speedy recovery.

    Look after yourself,

    Love Gillian xxx
