Day 77

Well today I am on the 2nd day of week 3 of my first cycle of chemo - god that's a mouth full! I have to say, I feel absolutely fantastic. I feel almost guilty writing that as I know so many others have not had such a good ride.

I had a couple of days in the first week where I felt awful, then last week I just had headaches / face pain which I managed with pain meds, and since last Friday I've pretty much felt back to normal....in the last few days my taste buds have even returned a little! I'm pretty happy....just in time for the NRL final this weekend....might even be able to have a glass of wine!

So far, bar two days, I have even managed to do some form of exercise every day, and I feel great for it. I hope I'm able to continue as the months roll on.

On Saturday just gone though my hair started coming out....nice big clumps of it. Sunday it got worse. So, my partner and I got the clippers out and off it came - a number 3 all over. Have to say it felt quite empowering - like I was taking the hair myself before I let the chemo take it. I keep telling myself it's a strong woman thing - like Sigorney Weaver in Alien! I do actually look like a bit of an alien without my hair!!! Although I don't like the look of it, I love the feel of it!

On the up side I have the most fabulous wig, and being back in the office this week I wore it for the first time yesterday. Everyone knows it's a wig but still gave me lots of nice compliments. I feel comfortable in it which is the main thing.

Last week I went to a Look Good, Feel Better workshop - wow, worth every minute of time you spend there. Great makeup tips (which I've used coming to work the last few days), great skincare tips, great tips on wigs, scarves and hats. And a big bonus was a massive amount of product to takeaway - it was just incredible! Skincare, makeup - all good brands - all quality. Overall a fabulous experience that if you haven't been I can highly recommend.

Overall, right now, I am feeling strong and positive. Fingers crossed it remains that way. :)
