Day 5 post AC CHEMO

That was a bad weekend! Couldnt keep my eyes open for two days. Not nice to be out of control like that. Went for a walk today to get some fresh air. It did help a little. When does it start to feel better? A full week after? Foods I normally eat make me dry reach when they are cooking. I have heard this is normal. I will be more organised next time and precook my meals. Getting nervous about the hair loss now.

  • Not sure if you have to work or not but if you get a chance to do something special between treatments I think it can make a huge difference to feeling good. Week 2 your immune system is at its lowest. So I aim for something in week 3 just before the next treatment. Could be just a day out up in the hills or down the beach or at the zoo! A treat. (...and the night before chemo is DATE night - another special treat.) I have managed to do a few days in a couple of different places each time so I get OUT OF THESE FOUR WALLS!  On my blog you'll see mention of the free OTIS Foundation offers of accommodation. Worth a look! Cheers, Erica

  • Thanks for your feedback on the hair loss. I have decided not to go the full shave just a number 1. Yay, the end of AC for you! That's good! Yes, finally feeling better. It took awhile to get out of the chemo fog. I hope your week post AC is not too bad Vanessa x

  • How long is your natural hair at the moment? Mine was as long as shown in my profile pic. I bought a wig before chemo started that looks very similar. Day 13 I also had my hairdresser cut my hair to a No 1 length. I never shaved it all off - my choice. Day 20 after AC 1 it came off in the shower. I still have a whisker of hair all over. I hate not having hair but am adjusting to wearing scarves, caps, hats and my wig. I'm told my hair will start to grow back hopefully mid way through Taxol. That's exciting!! I do take a lot of time every day to put on make up - makes me feel better and people say I look good. Whether I do or not is irrelevant but I feel good! Through my blog you'll find references to my hair loss, a good site for drawing on eyebrows, where to get more scarves..... Hope some of this may help you. Erica x

  • Vanessa, you'd now be up to day 7 so hopefully you ARE feeling better! At about this time of the cycle I get a feeling like the fuzzy head (like a hangover) and the wozzy tummy both come good - like things just lift off me and I almost feel normal. I've just had my last dose of AC! Yippee! One lot down. So I'm about to have the shit week. But all doable knowing it ends!! All the best. Erica x
