Day 5 after bilateral mastectomy

Today was another good day. Woke up feeling fresh and was positive about the day. Spent the day with a few visitors and reading some mindless trash. Every visitor that came in I made them do a lap of the ward with me. I had my dressings changed today and had the chance to see my breasts. I was very nervous and only looked down at them not front on in the mirror but I was really happy with what I saw. They look different but they look fine. When I looked down I couldn't see any scars which is great and will still be able to wear low cut tops once the swelling has gone down. They feel odd as in numb but my breast care nurse said the feeling comes back very slowly. They'll never feel the same but they'll definitely have more feeling than they do now. I think at this point I've either been blessed with a great first few days except 1 or I think I underestimate how much my pre op fitness has helped.

  • Thank u. I'm actually only on Panadol every 6 hrs which I'm stoked about. So looking forward to moving on with life but yes you're right I need to be cautious.
  • Hey Mel

Well done, sounds like you are going great guns. You will still be under the influence of your meds so you will be feeling great so do take it easy and don't over do things.

From what I have read from other girls posts that it isn't too painful having a mastectomy but you need to take good care of yourself.

Wishing that you continue to keep doing so well and there is no reason you shouldn't cause you sound like you have a great attitude. Doing laps of the ward is amazing so good on you.

Keep it up kiddo but also look after yourself.

    Lots of love, Mich xoxo
