Day 30
Well today is the day - results. The waiting is finally over, but I am anxious as hell. Very snappy and on edge today. Appointment is 3.30pm so will know a lot more after that.
My Berlie post op bra arrived today - what a god send that piece of equipment is! Fits so well, is so comfortable, easy to get on and off, and has a little stuffing pouch to balance me out. Berlei and BCNA should be applauded for offering these foc to those who have had a mastectomy - it really is fantastic. So finally today I have it on, with a nice top, looking nice and balanced!
My partners mum is with us for a few days now. She is incredibly sweet and lovely and is doing all our housework god bless her. My partner has been great organising everything and looking after me so having that done is just one thing less he needs to worry about. I keep telling him I can do things, albeit mainly with one arm, but he won't have any of it!
The weather has been great the last few days and have been out for a stroll each morning which is nice. Still trying to curb the eating at the moment - have been given an uncanny amount of chocolates and lollies, and then people come around with cakes and biccies! It's a lovely gesture, but no good for the waistline!
Pain again is better today, and I seriously can't wait to get the dressing off my breast today - its itchy as hell!!!
Fingers and toes crossed for good news today. x
Part 2
So I have now returned from the surgeon appt. There is some definite good news - they got the whole tumour, margins are clear (although close -7mm), and nodes are clear. The bad news was that the tumour was 8cm! Considering they told me originally it was 1.5-2.5 I was very surprised. So based on that, as a precaution, the surgeon is recommending chemo, radiotherapy and hormone treatment. I will see an oncologist next week for further discussions and treatment plan. He also said it was her2 negative and grade 2 - I'm not sure what either of those things mean but will do a bit of research to find out.
The news , although good, upset me. I really didn't want to have chemo. But in the grand scheme of things if it zaps any little leftover cancer cells in me then it's worth it. And so, another chapter in my life begins. X
