Day 11

Day 11 of fertility treatment. I'm feeling the side effects of the FSH and looking forward to the end of the treatment. I will have the egg retrieval surgery on monday.

I'll be starting chemotherapy on thursday. From one treatment to the next! I'm nervous about starting the chemotherapy and how my body will react.

  • Hi Tanya and welcome to the network!  Post as much (or as little!) as you like and best wishes with your treatment.

  • Hi Tanya

Elisha85 has just had the same as you last week, so she is a little ahead of you.

I know it is easy to to be overwhelmed by it all, but chemo is doable.

I recently was a guest speaker at a huge ballroom in Sydney with about 7000 people in attendance.  I walked in to view the room the night before my speech and was gobsmacked at how huge it was and immediatly turned to my husband and said there is no way I can do this , he reminded me that I said that before chemo and that compared with chemo this was a walk in the park.....so just know that  after chemo you can and will do anything you want to do..  bungy jump off the eiffel tower, walk sydney harbour bridge.  The world is your oyster..........just gotta get some of this crappy stuff out of the way.

Feel free to ask anything and know that there is heaps of support here if you need it.

    love Tanya xx

  • Hi Tanya,

I certainly didnt have fertility treatment (hysterectomy at 40) - so I have no idea what you are going through in that respect.

However, I have been down the chemo trail.  I had 16 treatments of IV chemo and even though I felt like I had been hit by a Mac truck, I used to tell myself that if it had this effect on me, just imagine what the treatment was doing to those nasty little cancer cells.

Take each day as it comes, is the best advice I can give you.  You will have your 'off' days, but trust me, YOU WILL GET THROUGH IT!!

Thinking of you, hope it all goes well for you.  Your body basically tells you what to do, ie: rest, etc.  Listen to it and dont overdue things!

    Good luck!
