Hi Lisa - six years ago almost to the day my husband drove me home from the doctor's while I sobbed gut wrenching tears as I thought of telling my teenage boys that I had cancer. I locked myself in the toilet until my hubby had broken the news and then we all just got on with it - I'm still doing just that, six years later. In the last six years I've finished a uni degree, had bowel cancer (completely unrelated to my breast cancer - just lucky I guess :) and tried to live every day with a new appreciation of life and love. I'm still coming to terms with everything that's happened and don't fool yourself that the journey is easy or uncomplicated. I'm still getting used to the idea that I can only see a few steps ahead and that that can be enough as long as I have friends and family to walk with me and hold my hand.
I can't pretend that it's a journey I would choose to take but it's the path I have to walk and you are starting out on your own, individual and unique "adventure" - I wish you peace and strength as you face this
