Dam it I'm sick

Oh!! NO I'm sick!!!  dam it!!!  after managing to keep Nat away from all the germy people for the past few months my adult daughter cam to visit she said its ok I have a chest infection (mmm me thinks she actually just had a cold which upset her asthma ggrr ) and has kindly shared it with me uggggg

I had to take Nat to the doc yesterday so she put me on antibiotics as a precautionary measure, I have sprayed and wiped everything that I have touched or thought about touching lol , sucking on strepsils, trying to keep away from her as much as I can, the only thing I haven't done is bath in detol hahaha (I would if it would help lol )

Now I have to find someone to take her to the hospital tomorrow for her Zoladex injection as I'm not that silly to go into the chemo centre with a cold. what a pain...

fingers crossed Nat doesn't catch it

Cheers Sue

  • Hi Sue

That's a pain for you. Can I just say, please don't underestimate the toll that bc is having on you too as the carer. Definitely take some antibiotics and vitamins etc.  You don't want to end up really sick and in hospital yourself. I'm only now realising the toll my bc has had on those who cared for me. Hopefully Nat won't get it and you will be feeling better soon. Face masks and hand wash work very well. Both of my sons got really nasty colds whilst I was having chemo. Fortunately I managed not to get it by taking precautions. Karen xox

  • Oh Sue how annoying, unfortunate, and bloody inconvenient! Tell that chest infection of yours to bugger off!!!!! I really hope you can get some caring for yourself as well. While I know you are caring for Nat you have to take care of yourself as much as you can so call on all your available resources/support so you can be back to your old self as soon as possible. Can they get a community nurse out to Nat for the injection rather than have you take her to the hospital? My other suggestion is to wear a mask. Very common for people unwell in Japan to wear masks which is totally polite of them if you ask me. So hoping you get well soon.

    All the best,  Nadine

  • Thanks Brenda yep loads of yoghurt with every tablet ( I don't need thrush as well lol ) and I have started on multi vitamins as well as I think I'm a bit run down with all the stress.

    Cheers Sue xx

  • Thanks Tracy, I called them as you said and they will make arrangements to take her in a private room and give me a mask phew that's a relief.

Yep with winter it will be a worry, even though the oncology nurse did tell me not to panic over colds ans sniffels Ebola then panic lol

    Cheers Sue xx.

  • Get well soon. Don't forget antibiotics can be rough on the stomach so a probiotic drink could be helpful and some multivitamins for when you aren't quite eating properly. Soldier on.

  • How annoying!

I will be in the middle of chemo through winter, and I am not looking forward to that on top of just having the chemo!

    Hope you get better soon!

and just a thought....when I was looking after my dad, I had to take him for his appointment for his injections and I had just a head cold, no fever etc...but I rang the clinic in a panic and they told me to wear a mask and to try to only stay in the quiet room. I was still anxious, but I had no choice as i was his sole carer. So maybe ring and ask?

Good Luck and all the best for speedy recovery!
