Curse you MRI!!
So here's my story so far,
Bilateral invasive tumours. Looks like grade 1. Was looking like stage 1.
Go for a second opinion. He says "You need an MRI before surgery". That makes sense but I ...
Well it turned out that there's the time that the receptionist at the Radiology dept. will tell the surgeons PA when she rings to make an appointment, and then there's the time the radiologists will make with the surgeon when she rings.
Then you turn up at the radiology dept. and the receptionist says "These results will be ready in a week"
and I say "Ummm. Well that's no good, the doctor needs them tomorrow."
and she says "Oh then they'll be ready tomorrow.".
Makes you wonder.
So I had my second MRI 3 days, not 2 weeks after the first one! And I had the biopsy yesterday. Today is D-day for my right breast. Trying not to get my hopes up. Its all jolly well for Kerri-Anne to say MRI saved her breast, but in my case, it could well be its death knell. But it could save me a second round of surgery in 6 months and it maybe it will save my life.
So she's absolutely right! There should be rebates for breast MRI. Its outrageous really that things that have been shown to have little clinical significance are rebated and not breast MRI for proven cancer cases!
Enough ranting. Fingers crossed for today.
