Ct bone scan reporting

You've really had a hard time of it @cranky_granny - and I'd be cranky too!  I hope your ongoing appts are easier xx

I tend to write everything down that I want done, including script requests.  I tick them off as they are attended to!  They are used to me now!  I start writing stuff down as soon as I make the appt.  For specialists, I type it on the computer & give them a copy to go thru & answer - I have my copy, writing their answers as well as recording it on my phone!

My Onc is good too, going thru stuff with me & giving my copies, liking that I've done my homework & ask good questions - she even dictates the report as I sit there.    She has rung me twice in the last 5 days, updating me on my husband's tests re his treatment starting on Tues.

The mammogram & ultrasound people at the current radiology that I am seeing are good & keep me informed, asking me to look at the screen if I ask .... (but NOT BSNSW!) 

I like that, @Zoffiel ..... tell them you want a grown up ..... I'll remember that one!   ;) 

@Fraser - hmmm - I know your answer was probably to a few previous comments .... but when I said they wouldn't give me a copy of the report - it was my GP who wouldn't give it to me - not the technician/specialist!  Once the GP has received the report, it is part of their job to advise the patient of the result & give them a copy if requested, as technically the patient 'owns it'.  it is just added unnecessary stress to force the patient to go back to the specialist for a copy!

You know what, @cranky_granny you can tell those juveniles to go and get a grown up. I've done it on a couple of occassions and while they may not have been my proudest moments, there was no way I was going to be spoken to like half wit. It's all about consent.

I know they are under tremendous pressure, but we teach what we tolerate.

Difficult stuff, when we are vulnerable, but if you think you are being treated like shit, it's because that's what is happening. Mxx

The registrar I saw didn’t even discuss the results with me at all
i asked about my bloods he just said they were fine. 
He was very rude when I bought up about checking my skin for change in mole I have. And he just grumbled go to specialist. It’s not their area.  I was trying to find out if I should be concerned he just cut me off. 
i hope I don’t get him again. no bedside manner at all. 
@Sister and @arpie. My oncologist always goes through the results with me without me asking. Also gives me a copy for my GP..  
to be honest I have no idea what they’re testing for anyway in my bloods. The bone scans I know they are looking at the lesion for change and any new ones. 
He didn’t even ask if I had enough scripts. Which I only have one repeat left. So whether I want to go see GP or not I’m going to have to now

I think the reasoning is that the person conducting the scan is not a doctor or specialist but a technician, who should not comment on the results. So that’s all they need to do - hand over the scan, and advise you to discuss with your oncologist or doctor! 

So over medicos who still think that results are private from the patient who has had the test.  Yes, I realise that there may be misinterpretation or maybe panic, but still.

Amazing how many incompetents there are in the hospital systems ..... at least the Resident Dr got up & did something meaningful!

As to the results 
The same sites of arthritic change. 
and moderate  increased activity at lesion site. I Go back in 6 months for blood test. Then the review to pain tolerance and referral for next round of scans. 

They are your results and you have a right to demand a copy. I've had enough experience with huffy door bitches  and patronising arse pains to know this. It should not be necessary to make a fuss, but if you do you will get the report. Regardless of whether you understand it or not. Mxx

My oncologist is pretty trustworthy but I also know he really wants me to stay on Letrozole for the full ten years - a bit less than two to go! So I like to probe a little bit! Just to keep him on his toes.........

i have to get from my oncologists. Before I used to take nurse sister in law to read it.
Now I have try think of questions etc depending on the results
