Creams for Scar

Mastectomy done, Feeling a bit sore but improving with exercise. Next step radiation. In the meantime, any suggestions for the best thing to put on the breast removal scar?  Thanks
  • Bio oil and Moo Goo all the way. (don't use before radiation though).  The moo goo is brilliant through radiation.  I used Bio oil for the scars as soon as everything was healed a bit.  The aux clearance scar is invisible and the boob scar is pretty faint.

  • My surgeon recommended Bio Oil. It’s a very fine oil and a little goes a long way - available in supermarkets as well as Pharmacies.
  • My surgeon recommended a tiny tube of Kelocote gel - I only needed a tiny bit as it went a long way!!

They had it available at his office for half the 'Recommended Retail' price, so I got 2!  My battle scar was only around the nipple area (which was isolated & then stitched back on), so it was not too big.  Even my Rad Onc has to look at her notes to see which one had the surgery (tho I can see it more plainly!)

All the best & have a great Xmas xx
  • While my axilla lumpectomy and SLNB incision was healing, I used Giovene Specialised Scar Formula to keep it clean and stop chafing. It worked, and the physio was impressed with the scar. She has now given me a silicone gel self-adhesive reusable strip to place over the scar. I can only use it at home as it keeps falling off! You are supposed to wear it 24/7. At least the Giovene stays put.

  • Post Masectomy I bought Vitamin E capsules, snipped off the end, and mixed the oil with a little moisturiser which I applied to the scar every day for a couple of months. My scar is the faintest line, no other changes to skin. Last year I had 15 radiation zaps and used MooGoo Udder cream - the only evidence is a very slight change in skin colour to the area.
