countdown to surgery

Good Morning Ladies,

I'm feeling a little down today It's only 8 days until surgery now but I'm not worried about that everything will be okay, I'm worried about my daughter as she has got a nasty case of the flu poor thing, she's feeling pretty yucky at the moment but my Husband is taking her to the doctor this afternoon. I think she's annoyed she has to miss the last week of Term 2 as she loves school but It's no good going to school when your sick as she'd feel awful if she made one of her friends sick or especially her teacher who she adores. On the other hand my poor little dog Chicko is full of Cancer so my Husband and I brought him home from the vet to live out his days with the people around who love him the most, I was devestated when the vet told us his prognosis yesterday, I keep thinking what if it's a bad omen with my Surgery on the 24th hope not

Kind Regards

Anita.

  • Hi Anita

From the day I as diagnosed till surgery was 25 days.

I was in shock initially the first 2 weeks, then it finally lifted the fog I was feeling. From the onset my mindset was to look forward to surgery and to the treatment and to the healing.

I kept saying, get in, get it out, get treatment, get back to life.

That has been my focus. Leading up to surgery, anxiety started to creep in. I continued my prayers..."God did not give me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and sound mind"..this helped me a lot.

The day of surgery was in some ways harder but easier than expected. I found many small blessing throughout that day, from the staff, to the unexpected moments of knowing it was all going to be okay and that I needed to just sit back and know that God had his hand on everything that day and also each and every other day in my life.

I listened to some amazing music my daughter had on her phone. Casting Crowns. I listened to 5 or 6 in a row on an album. It was the perfect music for me. The funny thing was I took in all these magazines, books, ipad with movies etc, but ended up listening to this Christian music in the lead up to the surgery and all the pre op procedures and everything was ok.

Stay strong. Keep posting and getting the support you need. I know this site has helped me tremendously.

Smiles and love to you. Also praying for your family and your dog who has been sick...xxx

  • Hi Anita,I had surgery just over a week ago and I am feeling pretty good.  I was feeling very anxious about my surgery, it being my first major surgery. Our two boys both had gastro the week leading up my surgery.  So I had the worry of my hubby and I falling sick.  Thankfully we did not.

I know it will be difficult with your daughter and your little dog sick but do try and take sometime out for yourself.  All the best for your surgery. Lorraine

  • Hello Anita, hope the afternoon/evening is going ok for you...usually I can drum up something sunny however the thought of little Chicko has undone me...except that Chicko has you and you would be everything to that little pet...loving to be to be close to you...here at my place I'm the One who's got a Cold...everyone's gone out for Two-for-One-Tuesday pizzas...hmmm, so I'm having a beautiful rest! Hope your pre-surgery  week goes healthily and  really well and your daughter feels better soon and is back with school and friends!

cyber hug: "no cold germs" :)

  • Hi Robyn,

Thanks for your reply I'm spending some quality time with my little puppy dog now as my husband and mother in law have taken her to the doctors and I didn't want to be in a doctors sugery of people with sicknesses as I have to look after myself and my mother in law has been a gem looking after Angelena so I don't catch what she has even though she doesn't particularily like me very much as my husband is sri lankan and we've been happily married for over 17 years but she would of prefered he marry a sri lankan but she had no choice as he told her he was going to marry me even if she didn't want him to and he is her only child but another story I have made him happy and he loves me and gives me 100% support that's all I care about and he's an awesome dad, you made me feel so much better, Thanks.

    Take Care Anitaxoxo

  • It is definitely NOT a bad omen!! Just spend the time that you can with your gorgeous pet,try not to get the flu yourself( plenty of sanitiser and glen 20) and perhaps stay away from your daughter as much as possible .Hopefully your husband can do things for her:) You can't afford to get sick cause you don't want your surgery to be postponed.Take care.Cheers Robynxox
