It must depend on the testing centre. My GP sent me for ultrasound and mammogram but the testing centre then did a fine needle biopsy on the spot. My GP hadn't even been told of the abnormal results let alone be contacting a surgeon specialist. My blood tests didn't show anything abnormal.
