  • Update on the chest pain. I spoke to one of the nurses at radiology and she informed me that chest pain and tightness is normal. Everything in the local area being radiated is going to be inflamed and tight. If it's uncomfortable I can take Panadol but if it worsens and I'm worried i need to talk to the radiologist doctor whom I am scheduled to see on Tuesday.

So im feeling relieved about that and it has actually settled down.

I have had 12 treatments and 18 more to go.

Thank you to all the ladies that suggested moo goo I'm lathering up three times a day.

  • Hi Kerr Kerr, I had six weeks of rads after wide local incision and had sharp pains on and off to the treated breast but not the actual chest and still get them now 10 days post radiation. Was told it was the nerve endings reacting to the radiation. Best to get it checked if not coming from the breast though.

Hi Kerr Kerr, it's just so important to advise your rads staff about any of your concerns. I hope that they can give you the support that you need. Sending you a cuddle, Trace ??????

  • Hi ker ker

I had painful twinges during my rads snd was told it was normal. In saying that they were short snd sharp twinges that didn't last long.

I would however definitely check with them when you go back tomorrow or ring the hospital as suggested by the other ladies to put your mind at ease.

  • hi Kerr Kerr,

it's tough feeling sick with something in the evening, especially as you probably want to get some rest before radiotherapy tomorrow.

If this hasn't been something like a muscular twinge that came and went and it's still hurting, no need to worry through the night...

    maybe phone your treating hospital

although the radiotherapy people go home, there's always a nurse co-ordinator on for the whole overnight who's across things and can advise you while you're a patient.

As Lyn said in her comment, it's best to be wise about chest pain, though I don't know if the radio is a special cause for it.

The hospital switchboard (tell them your details and why you're calling) will connect you to the nurse co-ordinator.

Hoping all is well now and you're not reading this but sleeping, all ready for a fresh day getting through your second week. All the best, Jenny

  • Hi Ker Ker, sorry I can't tell you if it's normal or not, but chest pain should be checked out. If nothing else, make sure you mention it to your treatment nurse tomorrow

    Take care, Lyn
