Chemotherapy & Loss Of Hair

Everytime I know I have to have Chemo I panic and get upset because I know that for the first week and a bit i always feel sick and depressed. Is it normal to feel this way?

I had my second treatment on Monday 19th Sept and i feel like im going to be sick.It was very depressing to start losing my hair so yesterday I went to the hairdressers to shave it all off my daughter Carla cried for me and so did I . I had a wig and my hairdresser adjusted it for me and i put it on and i felt a little better but when i take it off it is not a pretty sight for me when i see myself in the mirror.

  • How I coped through chemo was to keep a daily diary.  At least I knew "what was coming and what to expect"  If anything was out of the ordinary then I had it checked out.  Keeping coming online and there will always be someone who is at the same or about the same stage as yourself that you will be able to connect with and share concerns.  My theory was "Just go with the flow".  This advice was given to me by my daughter who is very wise and practises as a Clinical Phycologist.  Good luck and best wishes for your journey.
