chemo

Hi Here I am in the hospital hooked up to my drip. had my docetaxel and now on the other one. so far so good. took a few goes to cannulate as I have thin veins - but we got there. have the steroids so by all accounts will be ok for 2 days before the tiredness kicks in. so we will see what happens. the   staff here are all lovely and a friend dropped in with a hot choccy for us and some beanies for me. hope you are all going ok.

  • Mines the 7th May had to change days from a Tuesday to a Wednesday cause I'll have my youngest boy on Tuesdays
  • My hot choccy was not super hot. I have bought the biotene toothpaste and mouthwash so am hopeful I don't have any problems in my mouth too. I have drunk my 3 litres of water and spent lots of time in the loo!! I will certainly continue that for the next few days.  I will be trying to walk - I had just started back at the gym last week after the lumpectomy but think a gym full of germs is not a great idea for me plus also I keep hearing the words "gentle" excercise.

thanks for all your advice Robyn

  • Good to hear it is going well so far. As the others have said, keep up the anti nausea meds. Hope you have lots of ice water or icy poles for your mouth. Keep us updated.  Julie xx

  • Hi Margie,

So sorry about your veins huny!!! I had immense problems with mine too and resorted to the PICC line second time around. This too had its problems but they were ironed out by the second one! Make sure you take your meds for nausea constantly along with your boosters and plenty of rest too!!!  Take care and GOOD LUCK with today!!!!
