Chemo

been a bit slack updating here but my first chemo was a week and a bit ago. A few days after i started to feel the effects. Extreme tiredness and stomach ache from being a bit constipated. fast forward to last weekend i felt better and less tired. Went over to a friends house and had a bit too much of a good time and didnt get enough rest which made me very tired for the next few days. Now ive got a bit more rest the last few days im feeling much better.

Drinking lots and keeping my fibre intake up which has helped with the constipation a lot. its a process and im hoping now that i know what to expect the second chemo will be a bit better with side affects.

  • Second chemo was last Friday. They changed one of the drugs so it took a little longer than we thought. Got some of my anti nausea drugs in liquid form as I'm not good with tablets. Have the usual tiredness but fibre seems to be helping the bowels alot. Went to a friends kids birthday last Saturday and church on Sunday and felt quite good!! Yesterday and today had to go and do a few things but I'm still feeling good. Got a few hats tuesday from the cancer council shop. Also got my hair cut really short I think they call it a pixie cut. Still getting used to it. So glad I haven't chucked up this time! Two more fortnightly sessions to go then I'm on three weekly treatments yay!!!! More free time

  • However on trying some prunes and dates on my porridge in the morning has helped definitely.

I know I can pull out the big bang if I have some really nice rich Aldi chocolate. That always does the trick too! (at least it is more pallatable!!!)

Thanks for the heads up though.

Will ask for next time round.

  • Hi,

my first two chemos were really bad with this, but last time doctors said to start the anti constipation drugs a couple of days before chemo and this has worked really well, so give this a try.
