Chemo looming
Anybody out there?
I will be starting chemo on 5th feb and just like to chat to anybody about their experience. Will be on 3 FEC and 3 docetaxel on 3 weekly cycles.
Terrified of needles so visite...
Hi there,
Welcome to this wonderful forum. I am having the same treatment as you and I am at day 13 post 1st round of FEC. The anticipation is far worse than the actual chemo treatment. Once I got started I found it to be a non event. The needle hardly hurt at all and the nurses really do look after you. Basically you just sit there waiting for it to be finished. I found the first three days were fine and then through to day 9 I was very fatigued and quite sad etc. That is the only side effect I have had. I have walked every day for 45 mins but reduced to half an hour on the worste days. I also find if I have hospital appointments etc I don't walk as far - I budget my energy. My appetite has stayed exactly the same and I still eat the same meals as the rest of the family.
It is really hard not to be scared but I can honestly say ou will find it to be anticlimactic. I too had a little breakdown on first day. I had a rather long wait to be seen and I worked myself into a very anxious state. I also was there by myself which wasn't such a good idea. My husband is self employed and I would have found his fidgetting and boredom stressful so I opted to go it alone.
Great news that your pancreas is clear. I wish you all the very best with your 1st round and look forward to hearing how it all goes.
Big hugs
Joy xx
