Chemo is finished!

Hi everyone,  well it's one week since chemo finished and I'm starting to feel better every day.  Yay!   I'm so happy to be done!!

The 12 weeks of taxol was okay - only a few side effects towards the end - fatigue, neuropathy and heartburn.  The dose was lowered by 10% for eah of the last 3 doses to prevent any permanent nerve damage and that has helped.  I'll still have some neuropathy for a while but chemo brain is slowly going and it's great to be clear headed again!

I have a six week break now and then a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction. Can't wait to get it over and done with.  In the meantime I'll try and walk every day, do pilates and watch my hair grow.  For anyone about to start chemo hair does start growing on taxol and I think I can even get a tidy up haircut in another 4 weeks!  Can't wait for that either!!

    Congratulations - go you. Time to celebrate. I only have two more to go and I will certainly be opening some bubbles. My eyelashes have made a fantastic return, eyebrows not so much but it is all do-able.

    It's good to hear your experience. I've just done the first of 12 Taxol treatments, following 4 AC treatments.

    I don't know that Taxol will turn out to be 'easier' than the AC for me, but it's good to feel that I'm half way through the chemo.

    I'm sure you'll enjoy your 6 week respite! Good luck with your surgery.

    Congrats for getting through your chemo.  My hair started growing back on Taxol as well although that is when I lost my eyebrows & lashes - they are growing back now as I finished at the end of Feb.  I still have some neuropathy as well which I wish would go but not sure it will now.  good luck with the op.   Maureen

    Great news it is such a releif to finish. Good luck with your hair growing back mine grew back really curly, seems to be settling now. Good luck with surgery.

    Hi Louise

    great to hear that you are finished and feeling better. I am up to my 4th taxol this week. So far it seems to be going fairly fast. I am having more aches and pains than last week but all manageable. Can't wait to be where you are now!

    it's a great feeling to have chemo over and done with isn't it? It's so nice to hear you have things that you are looking forward to. The exercise will help greatly. Good luck for the next phase of your treatment. Karen xox
