I live in country Victoria and was sent to the Peter MacCallum Breast clinic with Professor Michael Henderson. I have private health insurance but everything has been covered by medicare except the gene testing. So I guess its a public clinic. The Prof is excellent but very busy but he has fitted me in and rung me back when I have made panic phone calls and organised a second opinon for me next week on the same day I see him..I think he is really good.
. I think because your DCIS was so big that they would recommend mastectomy. Mine was only 1.5cm at lumpectomy. I just keep coming back to having two sisters with aggressive triple negative breast cancer and whether this is a warning that I will or could go the same way as them.
