Chemo Dose 2

I had my 2nd dose of chemo yesterday. All went well - they found a vein after only 2 goes. NO allergic reaction - apparantly that can happen on the 2nd dose. So today I headed to the GP's room for the nurse to do my neulasta injection as I did not feel I could do it myself. The nurse was lovely and it was so easy that way I have booked in again for the next one. Hopefully it will help the blood count this time. Hope won't have too many side effects from the injection.

I had my appt with the wig library today and came away with a lovely wig and have been getting compliments all day. What a lovely hairdresser who spent the time with me and tried on lots of wigs and had a fun time with one of my girlfriends there helping me.

Waiting for the fatigue to hit in a couple of days - my mum is coming to look after me for a few days and has cooked some meals and making beanies for me. Be nice to see her for mothers day as she lives in the country and we are not normally together for mothers day.

Hope your all going well.

Marg xx

  • Hi sorry you have been feeling sick. I have actually had my 3rd dose and on the 17th june (just over a week) I have my 4th and final dose thank goodness. I was not too worried about the hair loss and got it shaved once it was coming out in clumps. I have a wig but actually prefer to wear my turban scarves, got some lovely ones off headcovers.com and ordered some more yesterday. so much nicer on my bald head! and they look pretty good. I have been "lucky" and don't get nausea (hope that continues for the last one) but get really fatigued. I have not had a rash - did have an allergic reaction which affected my eyes and have had to take claratine for that.

Maybe your oncologist will order the nuelasta injection for your next doses - mine did after the first one my blood count dropped dramatacally so I have had them now after each dose and it reduces the side effects by helping to build your blood count up.

enjoy your walk and try and keep positive. Our hair will grow back! I may even enjoy wearing hats in the future winters! its kinda fun.

    have a good day.

  • Hi Marg, you are about 2 weeks ahead of me.  Had my 1st TC chemo 11 days ago. Coped well, so pleased with myself, but a rash & infection this 2nd week has brought me back down to earth. I have grey hair & look like Richie Benaud in my wig!!! Been worrying about hair loss until I felt so crook, then I thought, b..........r, the hair, just want to feel better. So, this morning I feel happy and resigned and I am going to get out and walk in the pale autumn sun. Luv yr posts,  Rob

  • Another one done. I got to the point where I was counting down, not so much the actual chemos, but the needles! Blood test, cannula and Nuelasta each round, with usually 2 goes each cannula! Must say though that the nurses are fantastic at it and the Nuelasta was pretty much pain free for me. Enjoy your Mother's Day with your Mum as much as you can. A few more weeks and this will all be behind you! Take care. Deanne xxx
