Chemo 1 drama filled

Hi everyone, My first blog, here goes... On 25 October I visited my doctor and mentioned that a. bruise on my left breast had been there for a few weeks and didn't seem to be going away. She sent me off for urgent tests and by the end of the day I, who am never sick, was being told I had inflammatory breast cancer. CTs and bone scans completed the following week and then my first chemo was on 6/11 (TAC). I seemed to get all the side effects, mild only but combine them all and Not fun. On 12/11 the constipation got very bad and So visited the chemo centre, had an X-ray and went home to get stuck into the laxatives. That evening my temp shot up to 39.1so back to the hospital. Turns out the neulaster didn't work and eColi had got in my blood stream. I'm okay now following a week in hospital on IV antibiotics and other drugs but seriously..... chemo round 2 better be boring in comparison to round 1. Jenny
  • So sorry to hear you've had a breast cancer diagnosis but welcome to this site where you'll get lots of info and support.Sounds like your first chemo was hard on you.I had the same experience on Taxotere - zilch neutraphils and 4 days in isolation on iv antibiotics. It's been well over 2 years now and I'm doing fine.I've had  early breast cancer twice in the same breast - in  2003 and in 2010.So I got to sample all the treatments, lucky me. Well I always say that "boring"is very under rated and I hope that's exactly what your next chemo is - boring!
