Check up with surgeon

I had a check up with Dr Kollias tonight. Was concerned about possible more seroma (fluid build up) and also the tightness across the surgery site that causes swelling of the fatty tissue above where chest joins my arm. Thankfully I just needed reassurance that all is 'normal' and OK with no aspiration needed - a very small amount of seroma but not worth syringing. He said I do need to see the Lymph Physio as I have some cording and am in need of their treatment for the things bothering me. Had already made an appointment with the Greenhill Rd clinic so all on track! Feeling strong and positive - ready for start of chemo onslaught on Thursday! Bring it on! Sooner it starts, sooner it finishes!!

  • Hi Joanne. Hard to know how the journey will affect each of us. About to start but very ready. 'SEEK AND DESTROY'. Maybe wear a dress you aleady like to the wedding... Hopefully you will feel fine by then! All the best!

  • Thanks, Leonie. Feeling positive! Will definitely 'go with the flow'. About to start.... :)

  • Hi Erica, I am also starting chemo soon, next Tues. I had a portacath inserted two days ago as sadly my veins are non existent. No one told me just how painful it would be so I'm struggling a bit with it right now. Hopefully it will have settled down by next week. I too have had issues with a Seroma, having it drained last week. Still a bit swollen but not as bad. Breast cancer nurses told me to wear the binding I came home in after mastectomy and it has helped. Very nervous about the chemo. I have a wedding to attend the following weekend and don't know how well I'll be, still haven't got a dress either and I don't know how or when I will be able to go shopping for one, time is running out!
