Catching a Cold a week before Chemo

Hi, I am just going down with a nasty head cold which I started to feel about 4pm, and now by 8pm I really have a full-blown head cold. So far my temperature is normal but I am sneezing a lot, my nose is streaming, and my throat raw and I feel quite muggy. I am on TCH chemo, with neulasta so I am sure my white blood levels would now be up to a good level  again. I am due for my next Chemo treatment in 6 days, ie Monday next week.

Have any of you been in this situation? I know to watch my temperature and if it goes over 38 to go into the hospital, and to keep warm, keep up my oral hygiene/gargling with saline, rest up and drink plenty of fluids But are there any other issues that I should be thinking about because of the Chemo, and are there any other things that will help me get well enough to have my 5th dose of chemo next Monday? Should I contact the oncology nurses, or my oncologist?

  • Thanks both of you for joining me on this page, and Sally, thanks for the "good news" story. I am taking Sudafed, and echinacea too, and my cold is definitely on the mend. Good luck Liz with your cold!
