Cancer Australia Research Grants

Cancer Oz has just released the successful applicants for the Priority Driven Collaborative Cancer Research Scheme.

These are the projects that will be funded

There are several that apply to breast cancer.

I've been an assessor for this program for 8 years. It is a fascinating job. If you are interested in becoming involved as a consumer I'd recommend you get onto their website and find out how you might participate in this or other consumer engagement initiatives. You are now the experts--you have dragged yourselves through the process and have the sort of insights that, believe it or not, the scientists need to do their jobs properly.

  • It's wonderful to know that grants are being awarded for something so beneficial!  Ten points to Dubbo Hospital for engaging those affected to find out what may help improve their treatment visits.  The cynic in me has seen many a time community consultation based on the outcomes they want, not what would be of benefit to the end user, hence ticked that box!
  • Dear Zoffiel , Thanks for posting this info. It is good for us consumers to be involved in research and consultations.
Dubbo Base Hospital, where I had chemotherapy earlier in the year, is calling on community members to be involved in consultations and to give advice on what is needed in the new cancer centre being planned. This centre will include radiotherapy as well as chemotherapy treatment and should be completed by 2020.
Network members in the region can have a look at this link for more info and an expression of interest form.
