bye bye hair see you in while

Hi to all lovely ladies out there just a quick up date . Yesterday marked 2 week since I started chemo and my hair started to fall out in big chunks after I washed it , so I bit the bulit and had it cut. You can imagine that my 15 year old insisted on cutting it and she did a good job. Now my hair is like Demi Moore"s in that movie JI JANE , i think I dont remember exactly, I only wish I looked like her . Both my husband and my daughter keep telling me that I look cute and are very supportive, it does not bother me to much is just that I keep forgetting and I get a shock every time I look in the mirror. I keep telling my self its just a small price to pay in order to survive bc. Well that's it for now I have to get ready to see my oncologist for a follow-up before I have my next chemo next tuesday. I can not believe that I am already getting reddy for my second chemo , I just hope the second one will be the same like the first one minimal side effects . Thank you for listening , it helped to put it all on "paper". Cheers Monica

  • Hello Beautiful Monica, so glad you are well supported by family and friends I  am sure it will make all the differance to your own attitude. I expect to join you myself very soon as my hair is starting to tease me by remaining on my pillow in the mornings and falling in the shower, it will be 2 weeks since my first chemo this friday. Remember you look beautiful and hey I found some real sweet hats on line at the Hat Show.  All the best Monica

  • It is now over 3 months since my last chemo and my hair is growing back - slowly.  Everyone thinks it looks great.  I am still a bit reserved and haven't gone out in public with it "out" yet.  I am used to long curly hair that I can hide under.  The hats have been great but it is getting a bit hot here in Rockhampton.  My regrowth is like a tabby cat colour so when I give it a bit of colour I might get some more courage and expose it.  Enjoy the "new" you. • Before I shaved my hair I was unsure how I will react but since than I realised that I actually like it . I love the freedom of not having a bad hair day and the chance to buy accesories for my head. I posted a photo of me with the new hairdo on my facebook and my friends like it a lot. So I decided to change my profile photo to match my new look. Cheers everyone.

  • Smiley, you sound so positive about it all too. It is great that you had your daughters share in that experience. Fear would have been the last thing on their minds doing this for mummy. What a great memory for them and you to treasure forever.

  • Thank you Sandy, the girls at work liked it too. Was nice to catch-up today , I had a great day . See you, Mariana
