Hi Chris
Before mastecomy I too slept on my side and like you wondered if I would every have a 'normal' nights sleep again. I can't remember how long after the surgery but one morning I woke up on my side!!! Whilst it felt a bit weird it wasn't painful. I am now just over 5 weeks post silicone implants. I only had a week off work (I have an office job 2 days per week) and was able to drive within a few days. Did avoid lifting anything heavy for a few weeks and was a good excuse to get my other half to do more around the house eg vaccuming, hanging washing. I am booked in on the 28th Oct for nipples!! It is day surgery with a local anaesthetic at the site.(haven't got much feeling there anyway) Plastic surgeon said it will take around an hour. He is lifting the skin and twisting it into a nipple (gives a whole new meaning to nipple twisting!! lol!!!) then hopefully early December they will finish them with tattooing for the aerola. I was fully prepared just to have only the tattoos but both my surgeon and partner encouraged me to go 3 dimensional, as just tattooing can look like a transfer? Hmmm I am hoping that they don't stick out too much as I really don't want perpetual high beams!! lol.... i will keep you posted.
Hang in there with your recovery. You will get to enjoy a good night's sleep in a few weeks on your side again!!
