Hi Sue,
What a frustrating situation for you. A recent government evaluation of the breast prosthesis reimbursement scheme recognised this issue, where some women lose or gain weight as a result of breast cancer, and need to therefore replace their prosthesis sooner than the two year waiting time.
The evaluation recommended that the Department of Health and Ageing monitor how many women may be affected, and to review this in 12 months.
So it would be worth writing a letter or emailing the Minister for Health and Ageing Nicola Roxon about your situation. I know this doesn't help you in the short-term, but in terms of trying to achieve some change, every little bit helps!
There is some information about the evaulation report on our website, if you'd like to read a little more.
