I just want to raise an issue I have with Medicare and see if guidelines can be changed for women in similar situations. I had my first bout of breast cancer in 1987 and have worn a prosthesis since. In December 2010 I lost my other breast to breast cancer. I was a fairly big girl and one of the upsides of this whole saga is that now I can choose to be a much smaller size ... or can I? It turns out that I can't replace my large prothesis until October 2011 (since I had my last one replaced in 2009). Despite having a doctor's certificate stating I need 2 prothesis I can only get one now and another in October. I can just go flat chested for a few more months (which isn't a hugh problem for me) but I think there has to be a commonsense solution to this problem on the part of Medicare.
