Reimbursements for external breast prostheses are now available through Medicare to the value of up to $400 (per prosthesis).  You need to pay for the prosthesis initially, and then claim from Medicare afterwards with your receipt.  The reimbursement is paid into your bank account via electronic transfer, once your claim has been processed.  This usually takes no more than 10 business days. 

If you are in a private health fund,  you should first claim from your private health insurance fund, then Medicare, if there is any residual remaining.   Ask Medicare for an 'External Breast Prosthesis Claim Form' (available to download at their site).  Medicare will not pay for any bras - these are at your own expense.
